Rules / Regulations

  • Visiting hours in the cemetery are from dawn to dusk.
  • The decoration of graves and mausoleum crypts and niches is encouraged as a memorial for loved ones. The cemetery assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage to decorations, and all decorations (including flowers, wreaths, urn stands, holders, etc.) are the sole responsibility of the family.
  • Decorations are further limited to those which do not interfere with the care and maintenance of the grounds, especially mowing and trimming, and do not create hazards such as broken glass, wires, sharp metal objects, etc.
  • Decorations including flowers that are wilted, faded, broken, or scattered away from their containers or sites will be removed by the cemetery and discarded.
  • The cemetery assumes no responsibility for the care and watering of potted plants, nor keeping them upright. 
  • Memorial tree planting is encouraged by Willow River Cemetery, but all planting of shrubs or trees must first be cleared with the cemetery. Any plantings, shrubs, or trees wrongfully placed will be removed by the cemetery without notice.
  • Seasonal decorations – All natural or artificial Christmas or winter wreaths, trees, and decorations must be removed by March 15th or they will be removed by the cemetery and discarded (natural) or set aside for pick-up (artificial).
  • Trash cans and dog waste containers will be removed for the season on or before November 1st and will be reinstalled for Spring in mid-April (all dates dependent on weather).
  • Dogs must be kept on attended leash at all times, and all waste must be picked up and discarded.

     

  • Columbarium Regulations (Teardrop & Antioch)

    These Rules and Regulations are adopted for the common protection of the owners of all niches and the preservation of the natural beauty of the cemetery grounds.

  • Only one human cremated remain per single niche and two cremated remains per double niche will be allowed. No inurnment of cremated animals will be permitted.
  • Urn size must be 5 1/2” x 5 1/2” x 7” or less (Antioch) and 10″x 10″x 10″ or less (Teardrop) for a single inurnment
  • Urns purchased through Willow River Cemetery accommodate more than 98 percent of cremated individuals, according to urn size survey done by the Cremation Association of North America.
  • Decorations and flowers are not permitted on top of or around the columbarium. Funeral decorations will be removed seven days after the inurnment or whenever they become unsightly, or at the discretion of the Caretaker or their representative. Willow River Cemetery will assume no responsibility for the safekeeping of any floral memorial.No floral memorials or other ornamentation will be attached to columbarium. Willow River Cemetery reserves the right to remove any such ornamentation or correct any such alteration at the expense of the owner without being deemed guilty of any manner of trespass.
